COTTAGE PATH

Need Some Water!

As we went on our road trip in August, it became obvious we needed somewhere to cool off in the Texas heat. Everyone we visited had a pool. Tony’s sister in Phoenix, Arizona, had just installed a beautiful pool, and we enjoyed our visit with them and their pool!
Our problem with our cottage is twofold: one several hundred-year-old trees with roots all over the property and a sprinkler system. Digging a hole would not be wise.
I’m not a fan of hot tubs (I don’t need the heat), so that option is a no. Our only real option is an above-ground pool. The next question was where to set it up and its size. I also didn’t want an eyesore. Plus, we wanted it to have some sun. We decided on the spot just off the back deck. You can see in these two pictures that we put up a small blow-up pool on the deck for our grandkids.

We started by removing some of the deck flooring to ensure we could set up the eighteen-foot by nine-by-four-foot deep pool on the way.

We also had to move and resize the stairs off this side of the deck.

Next, leveling the ground.

By the way, I did help, lol. This took a while because the ground is so hard and doesn’t like to move. But it makes for a great floor for the pool.

It was time to assemble the pool and fill it with water; it took ten hours to fill.

We had about one month to enjoy it before the weather turned, and we had to winterize it.

It’s just about time to uncover it and jump in!
