COTTAGE PATH

It’s Been a While

It has been a while since my last post. From the end of July through the third week in August, we took a road-trip to Omaha, Nebraska; Denver, Colorado; Washington State; Phoenix, Arizona; and then home. When we arrived home, we discovered one of our neighbors would be moving closer to her family. The house she was living in here was one she was renting and going to be sold. I knew the people who owned the home, and they planned on selling it. They had moved out of state and asked if I would be willing to work with their realtor; I said “yes.” That led to also working with the contractor who was hired to do repairs and other projects on the house.
This brings me to two projects that we started on our cottage. We had begun to paint the outside trim on our home and the carriage house. Then, because of the drought, the trees needed to be trimmed. We had planned on lime-washing the brick, and it was starting to appear to be an overwhelming task to do on our own. So I asked the contractor at the neighbor’s house if he had ever had lime washed before, and he said yes. He gave us a bid, and we hired him and his crew.

As you can see, we still are working on the trim. I decided if I wait till we’re completely done with a project to post I’d probably never post again.
Regarding the trees, Tony also hired that to be done because the trees took a hit this past summer. It was so sad to see how far they had to be cut back.

Holidays were fast approaching, and time for decorating and preparing for our annual Christmas party had begun.

This is when we had to make another road trip to Washington because Tony’s dad passed away. We canceled our party and hit the road north.

We drove to Washington and back home by Christmas Eve in twelve days.
We have been busy since we’ve been home, and I promise I’ll post more soon.
