COTTAGE PATH

Texas State Bird

Many here in Texas consider the mosquito the state bird, lol. And like they say, “Everything is bigger in Texas.” And, of course, the mosquitoes are. The past two years have been a battle dealing with them. I think I should own stock in repellent. Tony says I walk from the backdoor to the car and get attacked, and I do.
So, our next project was to enclose the back porch.

These pictures are how it looked when we first moved in; not much has changed.

We started with pressure washing the deck and stairs, we thought we would have to replace some decking, but after pressure washing it, the deck looked great.

I chose a darker shade of the same tone of green we used on the house’s trim for the porch walls (Tony loves this color), so I also painted the outside of our shed off the back of the carriage house the same.

Josiah, our son-in-law, came and helped Tony figure out the final details of how it all should go together. He was such a blessing! He came for a whole week.

Here are some pictures of how it went together.

Complete with a folding down shelf next to the pool for your drinks, phone, and eyeglasses.

Now, we can enjoy our bug-free zone! Our favorite place to spend our time.

Looks beautiful and will protect you from all bugs for a long time. Everything is coming together beautifully and all the hard work pays off.

I FINALLY have had a minute to look at some of these posts in the past 6 months back from September. What a lot of work you have done on the house and yard! WOW! It has transitioned to a cozy place for you both to enjoy with family and friends. I’m happy for you! So cool that Josiah is there to help Tony too! I feel “retired” also after looking at all the progress. 🙂 I have refenced the garden and blueberry area at our home. We are painting, but slow progress for me. 🙂
