Over 7,000 Vendors
Our first trip to Canton was the first weekend in April. My dear friend Jan who moved to Texas, I believe, last November, called and told me about Canton. It’s the largest flea market in the world. Canton is located just southeast of Dallas and puts on the event the first Thursday through Sunday of each month. We met Jan. She is a pro in flea markets and showed me how it is done! She asked me if I was looking for anything in particular. I told her I had been looking for an old drainboard sink. When we arrived, she said, “I have found two!” But when we went looking for them we couldn’t find them, so we just started roaming the grounds. To give you an idea of how extensive the grounds are, we were there from 9:30 am. till 3:00 pm and saw only maybe a quarter of the vendors. We returned two months later with Tony’s cousins Don and Mindy and still haven’t seen all of it.
We turned a corner, and there they were, the sinks Jan had seen earlier. One had a sold sign on it, and the other was still available! The first thing Tony said is I have no idea if it will fit in our kitchen. But no worries, I just happened to jot down the measurement before I left. Imagine that. It was going to fit perfectly. It looked a little beat up and stained, but I felt I could clean her up with some elbow grease. The vendor let Tony use his hand truck to take it to the car. Did I mention I purchased it for only $120.!
While Tony was off loading up the sink, Jan and I enjoyed some frappuccinos and continued to stroll. [I did buy one for Tony too]. We came to another shop [this one is just an actual store] and found something else I had been looking for that day—a new light for over my sink and the best dishcloths I’ve ever used. When Tony returned to find us, it was time to head home. The best part of that day was spending time with one of my favorite people Jan.

So many exciting adventures. I wish that we had access to a market like that. I’d be there all the time. Lovely sink and you’ve done an amazing job with it ❤️❤️❤️

It took some time, and everyone who sees it thinks we had it re-glazed.

That was a day to remember. What could be better than precious time with dear friends shopping the flea and finding treasures? The sink looks wonderful and I am looking forward to visiting you!

Yes, Julie! The first of every month. We can head out first thing “about 1 1/2 hours from us”. October – May would be a great time for you to come.
